Hello Cabin visitors: this is Tom again. Since it is only a short time until it will be Thanks Giving, I thought I would send along some thoughts. In my home at Thanks Giving time, I would always help Mary Ann making the stuffing, that way, I could sneak a little taste. I would help, chopping the onions, celery, breaking up the bread, and help cooking some sausage or whatever we decided to put in it. I always enjoyed doing it, and it kind of made me feel as though I had a part in making the meal. That sort of took care of any guilt feelings I might have, if I over indulged. But Thanks Giving was always a very special holiday in our home, because it truly was a time for reflection, and for giving thanks for all the Blessings that we had enjoyed throughout the year. I am not really sure how it came about, but for a very long time, we would always call on Karen, our youngest daughter to say the Thanks Giving prayer. When she was very young, her prayer was simple, and of course, as she became older, her prayer would become longer and longer, and she would include thanks for more and more people. Naturally, she would always thank our Lord for all of us who were at the table, and she would give thanks and prayers for those who were no longer at our table. Karen's prayer would always include thanks for our service and military folks. I mention all of this because I think that it would be a good time to reflect on all the Blessings each of us have had. I promise in the next edition to give you an exciting suggestion for your Thanks Giving meal, but please take some time this Thanks Giving to remember all your blessings, never forget those who are there, and always remember those who are no longer with you.
From my home, I wish each of you a very happy and Blessed Thanks Giving.
